March 9, 1996 – Oct. 28, 2011

I am very sorry to say that I had to put Oso to sleep early this morning. He made it to a ripe old age (15 1/2!) but his body couldn’t keep up with his valiant heart anymore.

Oso was directly responsible for all the best things in my life. Without him, I never would have gotten involved in agility, aussies or met some of my best friends. I can honestly say he changed my life.

Many of you didn’t know Oso because he was in the game over a decade ago but for those who did, please remember him with love.

Puppy raiser extraordinaire
Champion Talker (especially at trials when I was running another dog)
The Ultimate Gentleman
The kindest dog I’ve ever known

I’m gonna miss you big guy.

Kristi

Owned & Loved by Janet Bourque

Our beloved Glory unexpectedly passed on after a sudden illness on Sunday, August 25, 2002.

All of us at Goleta Valley Dog Club will miss our beautiful little friend and express our sincere condolences to Janet and her family.

Text from Glory’s Album page:

“Glory” is registered as “Braylane Glory Bee, UDX, OA, OAJ. This all means that she is a very, very obedient dog and was once ranked among the top ten obedience poodles in the country. It also means that she is working very hard in Agility and still winning ribbons and titles at the ripe old age of ten! She’s part way through the Excellent level in AKC Agility and should finish this title this year.

Passed on June 22, 2003

Significant Humans, Mia & Mike

Roxanne was an 10 year old mix-breed. She was a rescue dog and was adopted on March 15, 1994 by Mia and Mike. She enjoyed agility for 3 years. She earned her Canine Good Citizen title and her PI title. She was so mellow and lovable that she easily passed her therapy dog test. She also was quite a talented trickster and won “Best Dog Tricks” at a local DAWG fair.

Her favorite things to do were sleeping in the sun and listening to The Carpenters. She also loved supervising Mia’s agility classes each Saturday and club members will miss her always.

In Memory of Holly

October 20, 1989 to August 10, 2003

Loved and Adored by Barbara Remick

We first met when the doorbell rang a few days before Christmas and there, on the front porch, with nothing but a big red bow around her little puppy neck, sat Holly. She wriggled and licked her way into my heart and stayed there for almost 14 years.

Holly was the sweetest Yellow Lab who ever lived. She always had a big smile on her face and greeted everyone she met with a wagging tail. If there were a “Good Will Ambassador” for big-hearted, loving canine’s, Holly would be it. I never once saw her show aggression or anger toward anyone, human or canine.

She was a big agility fan. She loved to go to practices and agility shows to cheer on her little sister Violet. As a young dog, she loved to crash through the waves at the beach, tried out for a Flyball team (too much fun to take seriously!!!), loved to retrieve trout from my fishing line while in the Sierra’s and every morning she brought in the newspaper.

In Memory of Kiwi

Loved and deeply missed by Anne, Mike, Kylie and Zippy Swan

Anne & Kiwi

Kiwi was Anne’s first dog that was all hers (and not just a family pet). She came to us as this little spitfire of a puppy from Santa Ynez Valley. From day one she was athletic, very smart, a quick learner and very devoted to Anne. Kiwi loved to play with tennis, racket and soccer balls and was also a very talented Frisbee catcher. Kiwi enjoyed walks on the beach, romping the trails of the bluffs in Goleta and afternoons at Girsh Park. She was a natural at Flyball and took to the sport instantly. When Anne wanted to give agility a try, Kiwi was a wonderful student as well as teacher.

Anne and Kiwi learned agility together from the beginning and Kiwi was a serious competitor, always trying so hard to do her best with each run. Anne and Kiwi developed from casual agility students to competitive partners at local trials and eventually venturing to the Cattle Dog Nationals in 2004 and the USDAA Agility National Championships in 2004, 2006 and 2007.

Kiwi loved her folks Anne and Mike and raised puppies Zip and Kylie—passing on her natural enthusiasm for life and her love of play with toys and her siblings. Kiwi was Anne’s constant shadow and companion and made her affection known through many kisses and simultaneous squeaks.

Kiwi was one of the founding dogs of Goleta Valley Dog Club. Kiwi will live forever in our hearts, is thought about constantly and will be remembered for the love she gave so generously to her family and friends.

Anne was fortunate to share her life with such an incredible girl, we will miss you Kiwi!

Son Of A Gun’s Cody

AAD VAAD VS VG MX CD TT FDCH EAC EAC-V EGC EGC-V EJC EJC-V WC TDI CGC

“Cody came into my life as an Empty Nest Syndrome Christmas present from my husband. He was not structurally put together well, had seizures and mild hip dyplasia. But this wonderful lab had more heart and could learn to do almost anything I would ask. He had that typical sweet lab temperament that I love!

We had such an adventure together. He went to many USDAA Nationals, the first AKC Nationals and also even did two TV commercials and also was in three national calendars (including being on the cover of one)!

I made many mistakes in training with him and he always forgave me! He helped me raise both my other lab girls (Jessie and Indy). Most of all he was just my big goofy lab and I loved him. I miss him every day but I know he now is not in pain and hopefully playing with my husband somewhere!”

Loved and adored by Barbara & Violet

November 15, 2002–March 30, 2005
Adopted on January 16, 2004

Thank you to all of our agility friends for so many wonderful messages. I’ve read each one many times and they really make this tough time a little easier. It’s nice to know we are not alone and that we are in the company of others who really do understand how deeply a dog can touch your heart.

3/31/05

Ivy’s short life is suddenly over. This is a very sad day for Violet and me. Ivy was struck down by a truck and died yesterday afternoon. She bolted from the yard to play with her pals in the park across the street and was hit. She died from internal bleeding very quickly. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Bless you Ivy. We love you more than you know.

After months of looking for a 1-2 year old female lab, built for speed of course, Barbara found Ivy in the park across the street from her home. She was running loose with no collar and when the kids in the park showed Barbara where she lived, it was clear she did not want to go back in her yard. The family that owned her were very eager to find a new home for her. It appears she was just “too much” for them to handle… perfect! Ivy has been working on becoming an “inside” dog, has been taking a few agility classes here and there and may enter her first show this summer. Just need to figure out those darn weaves first…
