This next class session will focus on a variety of things that dogs need to enjoy and do well in agility, appropriate for those teams who are trialing but show goals are not mandatory. Ideally dogs should have completed an Intro II Agility class and be proficient on all of the obstacles. We’ll incorporate motivation work with our agility sequences, and be working our contact criteria, weave entries, handling sequences, and speed + accuracy.
Time: Roughly 5:45pm start time for set-up
Please email Anne so I can get an idea as to who can join in this session, and we’ll go from there.
Coordinated by: Kelly Stark and Molly Rose
We are trying something new! So come out and do your “class homework” or prepare your team for an upcoming trial. Kelly plans to have set ups that correspond to Anne and Mia’s classes, but you can always email Kelly with your special requests.
Agility practice sessions are free for GVDC members and $5 for nonmembers.
Practices are held at Girsh Park in Goleta and all participants are asked to either come early to help with equipment set up, or stay late to help with take down. Handlers and dogs attending practice sessions are required to have taken agility classes and/or have some experience with using agility equipment safely.
Regarding rainy weather conditions: running or setting up equipment on soggy ground can damage the field. We don’t want to lose our privileges at Girsh Park! Please assume that if there is rain within 24 hours of the scheduled practice or classes, all sessions are canceled. If the fields are determined usable, then an email will be sent out that practice is on—club Members please check our Yahoo Group for weather-related updates.
Kelly has an “old school” cell phone and does not text or send emails by phone. Therefore please check your emails by 3 p.m. on Thursdays for any change in schedule.
