Scott with Annie & Foster, staying in shape for agility

Scott Savidge has been successfully training dogs to have fun and compete in the sport of agility for over seven years. For the last two years Scott has been sharing his knowledge and experience gained by training his own dogs, Annie (Performance Agility Dog Champion) and Foster (Advanced Agility Dog), with the public as an instructor for the Goleta Valley Dog Club.

His classes focus on the fundamentals of agility, preparing new teams to be successful in competition or just having fun at the park. Scott’s classes emphasize using positive reinforcement techniques to teach dogs the safe and proper use of the equipment. All classes are taught in a very fun and highly supportive atmosphere that welcomes canine enthusiasts from all backgrounds and levels.

Family members and friends are always encouraged to come out and cheer the new teams on.

This is our friend Annie. She is a Border Collie/Cattle Dog mix. She was rescued by Sharon Golding from a shelter in Los Angles and we are so happy she did. Sharon did so much to make her adoption happen, we can’t thank her enough.

Annie is awesome, she is enthusiastic about everything she does and agility is the perfect outlet for her intellect and energy.

This is our friend Foster, an Australian Cattle Dog. He was rescued by the good folks at DAWG from a shelter in Santa Maria. They said he had containment issues and if you could see him jump you would know why they said that.

They initially steered us away from him because of his issues, but fate intervened and he and Riley ran into each other as we were leaving and Foster was returning from his bath. Watching those tails wag we knew we had a new friend.

Fate interceded again one afternoon, when we met Anne out on the Ellwood bluffs. She saw Foster leaping over a grassy hummock and instantly spotted him as agility material and encouraged us to come check out the Goleta Valley Dog Club on Saturdays. We did and we have been hooked on Mia and Anne’s agility classes ever since.
